Horror in the Darkness Redux is praised for its engaging Lovecraft-inspired story, atmospheric music, and classic text adventure style with challenging puzzles and a useful map. Users appreciate the nostalgic feel and smooth gameplay. Common criticisms include the game's short length, occasional unclear puzzles, hint system limitations behind a paywall, and some usability issues with the map in dark mode. Despite these, the overall experience is positive, with many players eager for more content and sequels.

  • Some puzzles or interactions are opaque or unclear, causing occasional player frustration.
  • Hints, although useful, are behind a paywall and sometimes insufficient or not very clear.

Had a decent first experience with the game, but after trying all the different combinations I could think of to try to progress with the help of the hint button, I gave up trying to continue. Nothing I did worked and I visited every available area dozens of times to see if I was missing an item that was needed, but to no avail.

Short text based game. Took over an hour to complete. glad I paid 99 cents for hints as it came in really handy. Do save if you think you are going to die as it is a pain going back and redoing stuff. Did enjoy the story. Well written. Did not like the thing about the cats though .. took 1 star off for that
