Madness at Hobbsgate continues the beloved adventure series with an immersive Lovecraftian storyline and challenging puzzles. Players appreciate its engaging narrative, immersive text descriptions, and smooth interface. However, the game is criticized for its short length, abrupt ending, and less scary atmosphere than prior entries. Many find hints insufficient, often needing external help to solve puzzles. Minor bugs and unused items detract slightly from the experience, but overall, fans of the series and text adventures enjoy it and anticipate future installments.
Pros
- Engaging storyline with Lovecraftian and horror themes, maintaining immersion and intrigue.
- Challenging but fair puzzles that are enjoyable and solvable.
- Smooth interface and good overall experience consistent with previous series installments.
- Vivid descriptions creating immersive settings that feel real to explore.
- Game mechanics like maps and saving features add value, especially in paid version.
Cons
- Game length is short with an abrupt and unsatisfying ending, leaving story incomplete.
- Hints are often unhelpful, leading many to rely on external walkthroughs to progress.
- Some bugs and typographical errors distract from the experience.
- Certain items collected during gameplay are never used, leading to confusion.
- Less horror and Lovecraftian atmosphere compared to previous games, resulting in lower stakes and less fear.

Mobile games' best continuous adventure game continues along with another installment. The protagonist of the previous three games has gone the way of many Lovecraft characters and gotten himself locked in an asylum. Only for once he maintains he isn't insane and the game involves your breakout. While the setting is more grounded there isn't actually much horror to see in this one compared to the others. Regardless, it's free and worth the download.

Fantastic story and experience overall, it really gives the same feel of the point and click adventure games, but in text, and combining it with Lovecraftian lore makes for a fascinating journey. Looking forward to the next instalment of the series. (Hoping it'll be soon)
