User reviews
Players appreciate the immersive and well-written horror atmosphere of 'Horror in the Darkness,' along with a helpful hint system and user-friendly design featuring a useful map. The game offers engaging interactive text-based gameplay compactly packaged without ads. However, many note its short length, simple puzzles, and limited horror scares. Some users face glitches affecting progress, and the pure text interface can be confusing without visuals or after breaks. Overall, it's a solid introductory text adventure with scope for deeper content and polish.
Pros
- Engaging and atmospheric horror storytelling that invokes imagination through quality writing and descriptions.
- Helpful hint system assists players when stuck without diminishing enjoyment.
- Compact app size with no annoying ads, making it accessible and user-friendly.
- Well-developed interactive gameplay involving item use, exploration, and puzzle-solving that provides a solid text adventure experience.
- The inclusion of a map to help navigate, which is essential and appreciated by players, especially newcomers.
Cons
- The game is relatively short, often completed in one sitting, leading to a desire for longer gameplay.
- Puzzles may be too simplistic or follow a strict path, limiting complexity and replayability.
- Lack of sufficient horror or scare elements to heighten suspense and tension.
- Occasional glitches reported, such as inventory items not disappearing properly, which can hinder game completion.
- Absence of visuals makes the text-based design challenging for some, especially after breaks in gameplay, leading to confusion.

It took a little while to get used to putting every piece together to perform an action... but I used hints. It was fun. I'm a big advocate for games like this. I can't wait to play the other 2 sequels with I am downloading now.
