2025-01-26 | I'm incredibly thankful to the K-9 and Thunderbird team for bringing this application to the masses. With every other app dead set on shoving AI and data collection down our throats, here y'all are providing a modern yet down to earth mail client. Thank y'all. P.S. To anyone reading this, I urge y'all to donate to Thunderbird. Otherwise, they'll have to find other ways to support the development. Ways that could require they add in less than desirable functionality.
2025-01-16 | It's ok, but lacks a lot of functionality. The display is kinda wonky, icons for email accounts don't appear correctly. Cannot select multiple email addresses from contacts, only one at a time. Seems to be missing core features that just about every other app has.
2025-01-15 | I really like the design and overall user experience of this app, but the notifications are unreliable. They'll come in for a few days, then randomly stop until you notice and fix it. The only way to get them to restart is to go into each account and pull to refresh. For me, this is a major issue.
2025-01-15 | I have loved this e-mail client on other platforms. I loved the Netscape Messenger part of Netscape Communicator. (I know I'm dating myself) I'm glad this finally came to Android. My one issue is though and this is just nitpicking; when I tap delete from my notification shade I just wish there was no pop-up asking me if I'm sure I wanna delete it. This was present on K-9 mail as well. Otherwise great e-mail client.
2025-01-11 | I've been using Thunderbird on my computer since it became available, I was thrilled to see the Android version finally come out and so far I've been really happy with it the only issue I have is in the Unified Inbox it would be really nice if it would display the account the email is from. I've had Aqua mail for my Android devices for several years now I do have the option where they show which email account the email is in
2025-01-11 | Glad to see some progress, but Thunderbird isn't distinct enough from K-9 yet. I don't like the visually confusing account circle selectors. When tapping on an account in the list, the active one should only appear on the top, without leaving a duplicate below. The background colour of the Inbox should also match the selected account. I keep on thinking I have not selected the correct account, because the Inbox shows blue, despite green being the colour of the active mailbox. Back to K-9 for now
2025-01-10 | it is impossible to set up an account manually. you have to start with an email address. If it is a gmail address, gmail immediately says thunderbird is blocked I cannot then edit the server settings. The problem is that when t-bird tries to setup the gmail account, it automatically selects SSL/TLS security. gmail insists on a different protocol (OAS2?). But there is no way to change that in t-bird unless the account exists which google blocks. catch-22.
2025-01-07 | Installation & setup of my two main email accounts (one is Gmail, other Yahoo) was really very easy. So far my only disappointment is that I cannot move an email message from Yahoo to Gmail or vice versa. This is a key strength of the Thunderbird desktop system that allows one to consolidate important emails into one account. I hope this is a feature that Thunderbird for Android will feature soon!
2025-01-02 | 1 week in and I am really enjoying it. Sorting email is snappy and quick. No bells and whistles. No ads. Clean presentation. My only gripe so far is it takes too many clicks to refile/move emails. Otherwise this quickly became my main email app, just like its desktop counterpart. Mozilla continues to make quality for anyone and everyone who needs it for simply running on donations. Bravo.
2024-12-26 | Great app that's finally got me off gmail. I really like the UI, it's quick, responsive and is simple to use (although a few settings, like notifications, need reworking). Basically just a FOSS equivalent to Gmail, with a few improvements like push notifications for non-gmail accounts. |
