It does play well, maybe too well for a beginner especially given what seem to be large differences in strength between levels, but the free version has intrusive adverts. I think the pay one without the ads is about £7. It doesn't make any attempt to teach go - for that you'd need BadukPop.

Not bad, but there's no option for the komi. Also, the numbers of prisoners are not displayed. Just displaying these 3 numbers would be enough, so not too demanding for a programmer. ;-)

It would be nice to be able to save and replay games. Also, I really like the "undo" option but sometimes the AI makes a different decision for the same position which can be annoying (and is unlike your backgammon AI)

It plays a fine game on small boards, but on 19x19 the play is halted after 180 moves. Other AI factory games give you the full game but show ads in between. Why not this one? It's a thoroughly unsatisfying experience. Just skip this and buy the pro version. Or Crazy Stone, which is surprisingly affordable on Android. Also, the interface is difficult to use accurately; your finger is always in the way of the piece you're placing and the point you're placing it on.

This is truly a fantastic implementation of Go. Very addictive, having spent hours struggling with it to my great delight. Great presentation and controls. Just wish there was a way to permanently save games at current state so can review and possibly replay in future (or how to make the Save option save multiple games?). The $cost of the add-free version is a pittance, would have paid heaps more just to get the game. Best app I've ever encountered.

Love the game, sadly I have no one to play with but the ai is great for a newcomer like me. Ads are annoying but that is of no fault of the creator, I know from experience how annoying and expensive games are to make. My only complaint is that the menu has the click of to pieces of wood. Works for the game play but kinda annoying in the menu.

Edit: changed to reflect poor response from developer. They don't care about user experience, or the users in general. Our complaints are apparently our fault for not understanding their bad design choices, not them for making bad decisions. I love this app before changes were made to the ad system. It used to be moderate, understandable, and fair but now the frequency and length of the ads have become unbearable. What once was an easy 4 stars is now tragically fallen.

The game was good for me to learn how to play but the ads between each game are way too long. I've seen comments from the developers that the ads are skippable after 5 seconds, but if you click the X or Fast Forward, it automatically takes you to the app store instead of back to the game..If you exit the app store and go back to the ad, you have to wait for the ad to finish or go back to the app store.

The CPU always plays adjacent to the player, which makes it too easy to trick towards bad moves while i am given with good moves. Still, each level requires the player to master a new technique before advancing. UI is well done. I play this every day. I wish it could be versus over network instead of limited to same device. one more thing. PLEASE, raise the font size for the score! the negative sign is, what, 7 pixels? maybe 5 pixels? seriously, who's idea was that? you have PLENTY of space!

I used to love the app, but the addition of long inescapable ads that refuse to close even after their videos expire, made it entirely unplayable. *updated after dev response, more than 90% exactly of my last several attempts at play have ended in an ad without fast forward or skip options working/ appearing at all. I cant back out of these awful ads, without completely forcing the app closed and restarting. Maybe look closer at your ad providers, appears a predatory tactic to force a purchase
