Roomster is disappointing. You spend time creating a full profile, find a place that fits your budget with the perfect roommate, only to be forced to pay to read/send messages. After paying, you rarely get responses from listings you inquire about. Instead, you’re bombarded with irrelevant messages from landlords or places outside your budget or location. It’s a frustrating waste of time and money. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere for apartment hunting. App is functional though.

There is absolutely no reason why this app should be charging the ridiculous fees for basic. $12 per week .. to message people? Absurd. You allow everyone to post up a listing and build a full profile but you actively block people from communicating unless they pay a recurring fee? If you have a team working on this app, keep 1 & fire the rest. Make basic communication free. Then charge a premium membership fee so those who have multiple properties can market themselves. Upcharge priority ads.

There is no free usage of this app, if you want to send and receive messages you must be paying the exorbitant $30 for 30 day fee or $12 weekly. Even if you pay for a month and stop the subscription, you can no longer contact anyone you'd previously communicated with. The app may not be a scam, but it's damn close. Just use Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist and save yourself some money.

AVOID. This is a slick-looking "scam". Once you get into the app, the user interface is amateur (eg, emails/notifications from non-viable housemates who are either looking for something you're not offering, or are not in your area). There are few customization options. You're told of possibility of scam EVERY TIME you try to respond to a message. They don't even have the option to delist your property, or hide it - ie, you must DELETE your property, and re-list (an involved process) every time.

App described as free, but you can't really do anything meaningful without paying (cool, you can create a profile, but you can't communicate, so good luck finding someone). At least half of the responses I got were spammy. Asked to verify things on a regular basis, even though I already had. Getting emails for listings somewhere else in the country (why on earth is that helpful to me if I didn't ask for that?) I guess the app itself works mostly fine, but I regret wasting my money.

So I paid for a subscription, I've gotten 6-7 emails from roomster that I received messages. Yet I go into my inbox on the app and nothing is there. Customer Service was contacted a few hours ago and assured me they are looking into it. A few hours in and I'm thinking I wasted $12. Hopefully, the messages will randomly show up in my inbox. I'm not hopeful, hopefully $12 will randomly appear back on my credit card too. Although there is no hope for either. Do not recommend at all.

Very bad customer service. They are defaulting to continue subscribing for all times to come with no option to cancel. Only way to cancel it to ask them. And their instructions are outdated. I just joined two days ago and didn't want to continue for more than a month. I asked them to tell me the procedure and clearly mentioned in capital that DO NOT CANCEL. But support person instead of guiding me, cancelled my subscription where as whole month fee was already charged. Be careful.

Good concept but its so buggy. You HAVE to pay to access messages, when you actually go in your inbox the messages are no where to be found. Maybe you open one and want to come back to it later in the day. Nope, gone. Its not a very advanced app so i doubt they even provide the ability to "unsend" messages. More so the app is terrible and doesnt provide what you pay for. Highly do not recommend. Its better than Craigslist i suppose.. after 7 days you'll realize what a waste of money it truly is.

Completely worthless. Unless you pay, you can't see any message you get which makes the whole roomster thing just another LIE! They figure that once you've downloaded the app and spent a little time looking around, setting filters, etc... Now that you've invested some time, you'll just be lazy and purchase the "However Many Days" for only $2.99! And if you're not paying attention, or like most of us, you forget what it says below! eF roomScurge! Don't waste your time with this!

Terrible website and app. Great on verification of people so you can feel safe, but good luck finding anything - both in terms of search results and options to actually operate the thing. The UI is terrible, you can't see full photos, and there are micro transactions and subscription charges to do anything meaningful. Uninstalled and never bothering again.
