2024-12-23 | Great RSS reader, but it lacks more advanced features to be the Swiss knife I wish it was. Namely: More per feed customization (I want newest first compact for news, but oldest first cards for comics!). Better UX (impossible to tell what is read and isn't. Save buttons should be on the top right. Why can't I uncheck unread? Actions are not contextualized like add feed in tag doesn't include tag by default.) Little broken things like bug report never load if you have the GitHub app installed.
2024-12-01 | I've tried A LOT of news aggregators and RSS readers and this is definitely the best. Simple, reliable, customisable - I'm struggling to think of an "if only it had" suggestion. Maybe a one-tap way to add/remove articles to/from read later? I'm perfectly happy with it as is though. Full credit and thanks to the developers.
2024-11-25 | Got this to replace Feedly, and it seems very good. My key reason for the change was to be able to download all the text from an article without the whole web page, which this app does perfectly. My only gripe is that in dark mode it's almost impossible to differentiate between read and unread articles in the Super Compact view. Greying the title text would definitely help.
2024-11-20 | Mark All as Read now opens the Feeds list for some reason which is annoying. Also, the option to open Articles in the Default Browser does not work and opens in the builtin viewer..
2024-11-16 | This is great but I'd really love it if the folders/tags had a tree/hierarchy structure. I want to group things together with more nuance. Right now I only use the All Feeds and Saved Articles tags because the rest is pointless. I also only use it for YouTube videos but want to put articles in there too but when it's all together in one tag it gets to be too much.
2024-10-06 | The design of the articles listings isn't my favorite (not big on any of the options, I prefer Pluma's thumbnail view, but that app is broken). Other than that, it's simple and works well. I'd like to see source favicons in the compact view as well as in article notifications. The app has improved since I used it last year. Articles used to have no scrollbar, making it hard to tell how far through you were. Now articles have a draggable scrollbar! The app's also smoother and snappier.
2024-06-12 | This app is really good! I love the Discord-style drawer holding the list of feeds, the gestures for swiping to mark as read/unread, and the system theming integration. My one nitpick is the app occasionally thinks my attempted vertical scroll is a horizonal swipe. I do also wish there was a way to add custom icons for feeds that don't come with one. And I would find it useful to be able to filter out feed items with specific keywords (author = WIRED), though that's probably a niche request.
2024-04-21 | As far as local RSS apps go (cloud-based ones have their own set of pros and cons), this has everything I could ask for. OPML import/export, notifications for new articles, setting individual feeds to automatically fetch full articles or open in the browser, multiple views for article lists (my choice is Super Compact to reduce distractions), and auto-detection of feeds when I add a URL. The app is fast and so far feels solid and reliable. Good reading experience despite little customizability.
2024-03-17 | Only thing I don't like about it is that when you read something, it marks it read instantly & removes it from your feed altogether instead of just leaving it there read like I'd prefer. But you can save favorite posts before you close/back out of them for reference, you just have to remember to do it. Other than that, Feeder is a GREAT app with an excellent simple, intuitive UI.
2024-03-14 | A good, straightforward feed aggregator that runs locally. The UI is kept simple but well designed. It can import OPML feed data from other feeder apps and allows you to export saved articles as OPML if syncing locally. It handles standard web feeds and YouTube feeds well. The device to device sync is a useful feature if using this app on multiple devices. |
