2024-12-30 | The app is fantastic. The number of ADS is ridiculous. There are even more ads on our kids' fire tablet!! Every 5-8 steps the kids do on their new kits, they have to sit through a 90-120 second ad. Every 5-8 steps!!!! That's INSANE! A 20-30 minute project turns into 1.5 hrs because the kids accidentally click on the ad trying to get out of it, have to go back, the whole lego app refreshes every time, you have to find your place again, and low and behold a new ad starts ups 🤦🏻♀️
2021-09-30 | This app is pretty cool. Sure, my Luigi got stuck in update mode twice, but in the second incident, it managed to fix itself. It's nice to be able to use the instructions to build the sets and to keep track of all your Lego Mario sets. However, the fact that the Mario and Luigi can get stuck in update mode in the first place is concerning. Also, there's a much more minor issue with the app constantly asking you what year you were born in despite confirming it so many times already.
2021-08-11 | I think the app overall is great! However, I think a lot of kids loved seeing their digital collection shown on the main screen and are now sad to see it gone replaced by the random level generator. I think the random level generator is a cool idea, but it shouldn't have replaced the digital collection on the main screen...maybe give it its own menu option?
2021-08-11 | As others have said, very disappointed to see the built village gone from the homescreen. The mixer is fun if we have all the pieces. My 3 boys don't think it's as fun though. I'm glad the sets are still recorded in the "brick+" add a set section, but it would be way better to have them back as a 3D world. If we do add a new set, does it even "erupt" onto the grass anymore? That was a favorite part of the build experience. Please bring it back.
2021-08-06 | After posting my review, there was an update that fixed the issue I was having. I was able to get in and start creating with my son. He loves it, and I love that he loves it. The app does take a little to figure out but once you do, it's not bad. There are some improvements that could be made to make it better, like instead of going through all the bills instructions for a set before it tracks it, there should just be an option to add a set... Small changes like that.
2021-08-04 | The app is great and all but I have to talk about a bug with Mario and Luigi. But before I do if anybody has the problem when Mario freezes after the update, try restarting your device. It worked for me.When they try to defeat the airship together they sometimes think that the Bowser head takes 8 hits and the other thinks it's 12 hits even though it's supposed to take 16. So it confuses with the Mecha hand and the mast. It also happens in one player. So please Lego fix this.
2021-08-02 | The new update is a downgrade. I think, like another review said, the 'set collection' should return as its own option and the 'creation suggestions' could be its own thing too, not the main portion of the app. It was fun to see the world grow as I collected more sets. I know that as more sets are released, space becomes an issue, but I am sure LEGO can find a creative way to handle low-spec devices. Creativity is your specialty!
2021-06-03 | This app is really fun and works really well! and I love the digital building instructions. There so much more easier than the booklet! I remember times where I couldn't understand the booklet. I like adding my sets and doing the daily challenges and I wish there was a lot less lag, it can be really laggy sometimes. And my mario turns off whenever I leave him somewhere for a while and then he doesn't turn back on for 15 min. Other than that I REALLY LOVE THE APP! (IM EXCITED FOR LEGO LUIGI!!!!!)
2021-04-27 | Fun App! You can see how to build all the Mario sets in one place. I actually prefer this, as we have stacks and stacks of build booklets saved from various sets. You can take pics of your builds, and get ideas from seeing other people's set ups. My 6 yr old can navigate the app and builds seamlessly. Additionally, I have found Lego Mario to be a perfect medium between stem programming and building for kids, especially if they are a bit young for video games.
2021-04-09 | Edit: After hearing from a developer, the app seems to be working again. The app still detracts from the Lego experience. Wish we didn't have to use it for these sets. Original: App crashes regularly if it even opens. Disappointing. App can't be used independently by my 6yo. Not that I wanted him to in the first place, but even with me using it (I'm in the IT industry), it's unreliable and really detracts from the Lego experience rather than enhance it. I'm on a Pixel 3 and Kindle hd 10. |
