Why is premium 10$ a month. Now I paid 20$ for something worth 5$. Edit: it's only really useful for memorizing hiragana/katakana/Kanji, the entire rest of the app is just filler. I can easily get always high accuracy, but when I close the app I can't remember anything. If there was a writing test that forced me to use a Japanese keyboard I would learn much quicker. But I'm just associated shapes with shapes it's not teaching me anything. Go ahead and use the app you'll see you can't remember

I think this app is perfect for reviewing words. Might not work as well as flashcards but it's more fun and I wanna keep coming back to it! The only thing I don't like is when you have to writing out the word. When the bubble nudges its like I don't wanna see that and it does it way too soon. I wanna find it for myself and I have to rush myself to avoid it. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Been using the app for a while with about 2000 learned words. Appreciate it for relatively fast vocabulary exercises. However, recent updates have rendered the main navigation UI very laggy/unresponsive on older devices. An issue caused new audio to stop downloading, necessitating a complete reinstall to fix. I've been using Drops for about a year or more now and just decided to go Premium. It's the most beautifully designed, easy to use/ understand app I've ever downloaded (that wasn't a video game). It's very well thought out and even if you can't read the written portions very well (in my case, Hiragana and Katakana) you can still figure out what the vocabulary word is through the (rather clever) pictures. I love this app and so glad I found it! It's really helped a lot - more than other apps.

It cost money for the full experience but there is a free choice. It is a entertaining type of game while learning the language. I wish I could have the full experience so I can say what that's like but I dont have the money to do it. Overall it is entertaining and does provide the learning experience I am only in the beginning and I'll definitely be playing in my free time. Hope this helped :)

Without a doubt, one of the best learning apps for Japanese and what I'd consider essential in the learning path. The combination of clean audio visual, flash card style presentation, and the added practicals of actually writing makes this a relatively complete solution to tackling those first milestones. Those with Notes or styluses with especially benefit with writing practice. I absolutely recommend to anyone else learning Japanese. I've searched far and wide and this is one of the best.

Pretty decent app. Has a nice selection of topics for vocab and I love that there is audio. No writing function from what I've seen but that's no deal breaker for someone focusing primarily on their speaking skills. Edit: I've only just started using the app. After I use it for a while longer, I can update my review. Edit 2: This app is the only one I return to every time I fall off the wagon, if not the very first one I return to. Relevant vocab and decently paced in the free version.

I love the lay out. I upgraded after saving for the lifetime and I have referred it to 3 people. It really I a great app and I just hope a feature where you can connect with people from the different places to practice communicating because just learning words does not help regular communication and fluency. That would make this 5 stars for sure. Meeting new people and helping each other learn

Fun vocab-builder BUT this won't teach you the language, (for verbs they only teach one form, so only good if you learn to conjugate elsewhere). It's usecase is very narrow. Also, I find that it repeats words I have down-pat way more frequently than words I struggle with. This ends up feeling like a waste of time. Some audio files don't read the full word. The illustrations for some words aren't very indicative of the word or are too similar to others. Very expensive premium for what it is.

Too slow moving. Two suggestions. First, allow someone who is already beyond beginner to move forward to the level they think they are. Second, if the person is getting a word correct several times in a row, it would be better to sprinkle the word in less frequently. I saw the same words no less than 30 times each with 100% accuracy and still didn't get "credit" for them.
