2025-01-27 | This app is not for those with an advanced vocabulary. Even though is has options for helping people with advanced vocabulary, I was sorely disappointed with the words it was giving me. On the occasion that a word caught my interest in a push notification, when I would open the notification it wouldn't open to the word it was showing me. But if you are looking to grow your vocabulary from a smaller starting point it can be helpful. The definitions can be slightly off occasionally.
2025-01-27 | This is the worst vocabulary app I've ever encountered. Not only does it keep practically all its features behind a paywall (with incessant prompts to try out premium), but the content is downright laughable. Choosing the most advanced vocabulary level in English gives you basic words such as "characteristic" and "interrupt" and any attempts to explore a foreign language are stymied by the app's dismal English pronunciation. It's frankly insulting to be asked to pay for such a poorly made app.
2025-01-24 | Would have been absolutely perfect for a simple tool towards better vocabulary, if you don't mind the ads for a paid version, but unfortunately I notice that the definitions seem to be pulled from exclusively the example sentence, maybe from AI. It can give horrible definitions at times that can be wrong, includes the word in the definition itself, or a definition of the word that ONLY applies to the sentence.
2025-01-15 | "Vocabulary" has a clear, easy, style to navigate to your learning needs. Option to save and reserve what ones would be of value if you feel that word has a purpose in the future. Great app if you want to learn outside your normal words you utilize in your daily life. Etymology would be a great addition to this service as well.
2025-01-12 | The app works fine. Its very sleek! The primary function of learning new words, however-- several of the "definitions" provided by the app use the word itself. Vocabulary 101 is never use the word to define the word. Since the app does not contain value in the intended way, 1 star.
2025-01-07 | I've only had the app for a day because I wanted to learn new words this year, but I've already come across a few definitions that are way too general or just plain wrong. Examples: a symphony being a "beautiful collection of sounds" or the definition of adjutant being a verb (incorrect) while saying it's an adjective (incorrect), while the sample sentence uses it as a noun (correct at least). The interface is good, though.
2025-01-03 | So, I paid for the premium version on a deal because I love expanding my vocabulary but this app, while beautifully designed, does absolutely terrible on actually teaching you. It will have the word itself in its own description, singular descriptions for a word with multiple meanings, I just got one that quite literally said "I couldn't find a definition for this word." So why is it included???? I had to leave a review because this is just...utterly lazy.
2024-12-22 | I have the widget on my home screen and it works perfectly. The app is incredibly easy to use, it's affordable, and it's not like those annoying apps with too much UI or color. I will also say the notification option is very nice 🙂 I have my app set to 5 words daily and I have never thought the notifications were annoying. I've genuinely used the app and have gone back to words that I favorited.
2024-12-11 | nice little reminder to lean new words. I hate that I can't change the notification settings to be silent but still notify or to my own custom sound (such as my default notification sounds). Tried the intermediate mode, knew all the words it was teaching me, so I switched to advanced and it was still giving me loads of common words that I know. Not recommended as someone who's first language is English.
2024-12-09 | Already I am a few minutes into the app and I find words I never or hardly think of! Though I personally don't like the pressure of having to reminded to practice. Personally I just like to find new words and save them for when I want to write a story and not repeating the same thing over and over. This app helps, but I don't wanna be pressured to learn so I turned off notifications. |
