2024-10-11 | I have found my ultimate Spanish learning app!!! This is it folks!!! I have tried many others (including duolingo), but this is the first I've actually stuck with because it's so much fun. I love how it plays clips from movies, shows, or cartoons, with the characters saying the same words or phrases you are learning. These clips really help with my listening skills. This app is freaking amazing!!!! Thank you so much for making it!!!!
2024-07-08 | I made the mistake of signing up for a subscription before trying it out since it was a good offer. I wanted to use the app to improve my Spanish by reading books in Spanish and being able to see the translation when needed. I was very disappointed to find two mistakes in translation and two words not even translated in the first two paragraphs of the first book I tried to read. I don't feel like any of them were super uncommon and one was a simple pronoun. I want to trust what I learn from.
2024-06-04 | It is very strange that the application does not allow you to finish the course and choose another one, or change the level. This is the reason why I abandoned this app. My level of language proficiency is about an intermedia. But I am invited to teach starting with the words "hello" and "goodbye". It feels very stupid. And there is no way to finish this initial course and start another one. Clicking on the "courses" button does nothing. I think I wasted my money.
2024-02-22 | Freebie Mode kinda hidden but I did get in. App seems useful, especially for rank beginners. Less useful if you already know some words: I can see no way to skip forward to more appropriate lessons -- I don't need several videos interspersed with mini quizzes to "learn" basic greetings. Now reading Don Quijote in the library; lets you mark words to learn. Wish I could browse all free books at once, instead of feeling like an afterthought. Like how ads for premium have "never show again" option.
2023-08-22 | The lessons are so-so. There are only 2 games, and they're not great. But I bought it for the books. They're all public domain, which is ok. My biggest problem with it is that it does a terrible job remembering my place. It usually picks me back up several pages before where I finished, but sometimes it entirely forgets that I was reading it and puts need back at the beginning of the whole book, which is really difficult and frustrating.
2023-08-20 | Really awesome app. Unfortunately it will be kept out of a lot of people's hands due to a subscription fee. Wish the pricing was a little more affordable. Or the trial period longer... 3 days seems very short for someone who works full time and can only spare 10 mins a day or so. I don't want to commit that much money to something I've barely gotten to use.
2023-08-03 | I've been using the app for a few days and I'm so mixed in how I feel - I think the concept is really fun and entertaining, not to mention engaging with the books and movie clips. I see that the teaching style, at least with the movie/TV based lessons, is founded in repetition which I have no problem with, but for a Spanish speaker who is already familiar with the respective terms, it can get grating going through them with seemingly no way to test out. The year subscription discount is great.
2023-07-08 | I am a fairly advanced German speaker, around a B3 level. I took the placement test, but it doesn't seem to count for anything. There are only a handful of lessons. Made it through all in a short time. "Audiobooks" are a robotic computer voice, and I have noted several mispronunciations. I have seen several spelling errors in the lessons. Was looking forward to TV/movies, but it's just clips in the lessons. A nice idea for an app, but there isn't enough material. Some bugs. Support was helpful.
2023-06-27 | I was interested in improving my Spanish, which is at the intermediate level. This app says for all levels. It has you take a test to see where you are at. It then proceeded to teach me very basic words by repeating the word like 'hello' 9 or more times. I completed what they had to offer in the course in 6 short weeks! I only spent about 10 minutes a day on it. It never went past the very basic beginner level. On top of that, they charged me twice for the program; several emails with no replie
2023-06-21 | Honestly. I love the idea for this app. Using movie clips and actual stories brings the language to life. But it's very slow to load. Often takes longer validating my answer than I do typing it out. And when the task is repeatedly clicking "oh" then "cho", it taking four to five seconds each time to check I pressed them in the right order is incredibly frustrating. I unsubsribed after two days annoyed with it freezing on validation and overly repetitive tasks. |
