2025-01-14 | This is a great experience thus far. The review section where we learn words should be available no matter what device is used. On my mini-ipad aka the IOS version. It doesn't show the review section. Only the brain graph where you click to hear the words. If this is fixed any device mondly is on. It will be more effective as people like to learn different languages. Especially if we're trying out languages we haven't done before.
2025-01-13 | I've had good experience so far while learning Chinese. However, I was casually doing the speaking session of the lesson, and when I spoke into it the word appeared and then a weird noises started playing from the sound wave thing at the bottom of the screen. From then on the chat glitched and wouldn't work. Maybe it was just me, but it was weird and I hope it doesn't happen again.
2025-01-01 | This app is misleading. "Free" needs to be removed from the title. This is a paid app! It's also very easy to accidentally subscribe and get charged because of the subscription pop-up window that comes up every time you click on anything other than the daily and "Hello" lessons or the chat bot. It would be more appropriate to use the word "Trial". Save yourself some time and avoid the annoyance by getting Duolingo or LingoDeer instead.
2024-12-30 | A little while back perhaps after an update the app changed. Now after choosing your selection it no longer reads the correct answer aloud. That really stiffles the learning process. When new words are introduced, you can't easily learn how to say them properly. Note, I don't want auto play voice (that tells me the answer before making any selection). The app once read the language after making your selection when it checked the answer. You can't learn if the app starts reading the answer aloud.
2024-12-27 | I cancelled my subscription after 3 days of using the free 7-day trial, but I still got charged for some other bogus subscription I didn't approve. It's really hard to cancel in the first place; you have to go through the Google Play settings. I canceled my one & only subscription at the time, labeled "Learn 41 Languages", got confirmation, but 4 days later see a charge for "Learn 41 Languages (Unlimited Access - 2 Premium Accounts)". Filed a refund claim w/ Play, but such a scam. 👎
2024-12-25 | It is a fun and interactive way to learn a language. Recent changes to the format have caused me to discontinue using the app. I enjoyed using it the old way. I am often is situations that don't allow me to have sound active and would do silent lessons. That does not seem to be available anymore
2024-12-15 | Update: voice recognition on has improved, but its still sometimes impossible to get it to transcribe properly. Words and sounds nowhere close to what I said show up. Other times it's perfect. Numbers are always transcribed as digits and are never accepted that way. Don't use those types of questions if the app won't function properly! After doing 4 years worth of daily lessons which eventually repeat, I found the 2015 lessons are different and better for beginners. Learners should be made aware
2024-12-05 | I've been using this app for over a month now and I have mixed feelings about it. It's not perfect, but It has been pretty useful for learning Japanese and Spanish. I played around with other languages, like Thai and Chinese, but had a lower quality learning experience with those languages... I would say give the app a try, it's probably worth it, especially if you're trying to learn a more popular language (i.e. that they have developed more throughly in the app).
2024-12-04 | Another bug in this software. If you do the conversations in the exercises, it will show that you earn 30 points. Those 30 points are reflected in the daily status, however, under social where it shows your ranking for the month, those points are not added in. As is typical, I submitted a report. I was asked by Efrain to submit additional details and multiple screen shots. I complied, and now without resolution he wants to close this case. This is the typical level of customer support.
2024-12-03 | This app has potential. I think the most frustrating part is the "Put to use" at the end of the lesson. It seems to not pick up what I say very well, and the conversation doesn't continue. Edit: another problem I've just run into, if I'm speaking a sentence with a number, for example in Italian, it's asking me to say dodici but the app copies the number 12 down instead the spelling of the word, and I get marked incorrect. |
