2025-01-18 | This app was really great for pro learners. But lately it becomes so annoying, it crashes too much. Also, after 2 years being pro subscriber, I now realized how annoying to be a normal subscriber. It has too much adds and you can only make 3 mistakes during practice and the platform is not satisfying for normal users.
2025-01-16 | I love this app, it really honors its slogan "Words that matter" I have tried to increase my vocabulary and learn some advanced words in many ways, but most of the time I would just end up learning complex words that I would definitely not use. With this app I have learned lots of word that I have actually encountered and used. The only complain I have is that unfortunately the free version doesn't allow us to learn phrasal verbs or idioms... But leaving that aside, it's perfect 4⭐
2024-10-23 | I waited around 4 months to rate this app. Honestly hards down best app there is, I paid a yearly premium and I got a 30% discount believe. I use it everyday and it never fails but I wish they create a more complex ways of practicing words that would really test the learners and not just throw down clues that is easy to spot. Also It will be nice to see the list of words I have learned instead of the number of words. I will come to update this review with any improvement and changes if done.
2024-09-27 | Best app so far to gain new vocabulary and get in the learning fastlane - just by revising few times a week with the support of AI. Lots of ways to put it into practise with multiple conversation themes made available. A nice add-on would be to allow users to help expand the vocabulary database of Wordup (sometimes missing some good idiomatic expressions).
2024-09-14 | Word up was my to go app for learning new vocabulary years back. Now I started to use it again, and unfortunately, it is super glitchy, and the UI is literally broken. The screen is not accurately in place, and the bottom buttons are sifted down, and they are half visible. In a practice section, I can't even tap the bottom button to add them to my learning list or check as known word, which means the functionality is zero!
2024-07-14 | Quickly losing any confidence in this app. It made up a usage for the word stud to mean to work hard that I can't find in any dictionary. Then for the word wind, the app doesn't distinguish between the pronunciations; it pronounces it the same across the homonyms. I think you could use this app to check your knowledge, but as far as learning goes, particularly if English is not your first language, I don't recommend it.
2024-01-30 | The app is helpful for learning vocabularies with graph feature! However, on my phone, there's a persistent black bar at the bottom, showing only half of the content, like words number 100-200 and half rows of blocks, the good news is the swipe to next 100 words feature was still works. After the upgrade, the issue worsened, now displaying only the word number, and swiping is not longer possible!
2024-01-06 | The app has potential, but I'm concerned about its accuracy. Many of the images are either loosely related to the word or just simply incorrect. This makes me doubt the accuracy of the rest of the AI-driven information, and I don't want to waste my time learning things that might be wrong. I'm all for AI, but people seem to be using it without any inhibitions. I uninstalled the app.
2023-12-28 | I love this app. Offers a lot for the free version too. It's great for my obsessive personality as I want to go through every single word and make sure I know them all. The only complaint I have is how much this app changes.. every other update they change the ui completely and the app keeps going from great to terrible to great to terrible, etc. To the point where I'm scared of updating it every time an update comes out. The current version seems great so I've backed up the apk file.
2023-11-03 | App deleted my progress. :(. Finally got bac9k into the app and every few words I'm working on, the same notification pops up asking if I want to set up reminds. Already happened 3 times in a few minutes. Incredibly annoying. Two days later and again I lost my guest progress. Apparently updates erase your data. Uninstalling. Newest update requires signing in. There's no reason a vocab app should require a login. |
