User reviews
StrongSwan VPN Client is praised for its fast, reliable IKEv2 connections, low resource usage, and solid developer support, making it a favorite over default Android VPNs for many. Users appreciate advanced features like split tunneling. However, common complaints include missing functionalities (e.g., kill switch, trusted network auto-disable), DNS resolution issues, local network access challenges during VPN use, confusing initial setup, and occasional compatibility or connectivity glitches, especially after phone sleep or on certain devices.
Pros
- Reliable and fast IKEv2 VPN connection with seamless network switching.
- Lightweight app with low memory requirements and good battery life.
- Good developer support and frequent updates improving features like Always-On and Split Tunneling.
- Ability to configure private VPN connections and support for industry-standard protocols.
- Ease of use after initial setup, preferred over default Android VPN clients by some users.
Cons
- Lack of certain desired features like 'trusted network' auto-disconnect and kill switch.
- Issues with DNS not always resolving properly and inability to access local network devices during VPN connection.
- Problems with subnet-based split tunneling and traffic routing requiring manual reconnection.
- Difficult initial configuration process and lack of profile import/export options.
- Compatibility issues on some devices like Huawei and inconsistent internet after phone sleep.

great, simple, wish it had 'trusted network' feature so I would list my home wi-fi SSID there, to automatically stop connecting to the VPN server that is on my home router when I'm home......

doesn't support l2tp. Ike comes built into android which makes me wonder why this app was ever made. gets 2 stars for being the only VPN client I can find on the play store with the ability to setup private VPN connections
