I have both, and can't use Element-X, as it is barely functional, compared to Element. 1 million+ downloads for Element vs 50k+ for Element-X should be telling you something. But I guess a barely functional app that you don't need to put much effort into is your goal. Sad. |

| 2025-01-15 |  | | I've been using Element for some time and I'm sorry to say that it was a better user experience than this newer Element X. At least three reasons: - Element X lacks a phone call button (only video appears as an option); - it has no easy to access the emoji button; - it lacks the option to send, optionally, images at full resolution (an option to inactivate image changes is present but not convenient). I hope that the user interface can include in future versions the nice options Element had. |

It seems to me this would be the most obvious thing to put in the description first and foremost, so we users can know why pick one over the other, what the advantages are of each, and what even the story is. |

There are too many things about this new version that I don't like and missing features. 1) notifications stay in the top phone bar even when read. (I will take the old apps glitch of always unread "skip to top" over this) 2) can't customize the notification sound for the app, a basic feature I heavily rely on. 3) no link previews 4) no chat search function for previous content of any kind Overall a poor experience for me. |

This app is also a great improvement over the old Element app. Only one feedback is to add Change Space section. This tab is helpful to group my chats as right now they are all over the place.
