User reviews
Duck vs Chicken : Idle Defense is initially fun with no forced ads and a neat concept merging idle and defense genres. However, many users report the game appears abandoned with no new updates or content beyond level 180. Progression drastically slows due to bad scaling and RNG mechanics, causing frustration. Frequent bugs cause loss of progress and ducks becoming unresponsive, with poor developer support. Purchases like no ads are unreliable. Overall, while enjoyable early on, long-term gameplay is hindered by limited content, poor balance, and technical issues.
Pros
- No forced ads; ads are only shown if you want a reward, which improves user experience.
- Fun and engaging gameplay especially during the initial stages/levels.
- The game has an interesting concept and merges idle and defense mechanics.
- Can be played without spending money initially, with fast progress in early levels.
- Overall a decent idle game if content limitations are accepted.
Cons
- Game appears abandoned with no updates for many months resulting in limited content; the game ends at level 180 with no further improvements.
- Progression drastically slows down after about 100 levels due to poor scaling and reliance on RNG (random number generation), especially with obtaining red crystals needed for upgrades.
- Frequent bugs including bugs affecting ducks attacking, loss of progress or levels due to updates, and poor customer support with unresponsive developers.
- Purchases like no ad packs often don't work properly; players continue to see ads despite payment, leading to distrust.
- Resource scaling imbalance: excess resources like corn become useless while progressing to higher levels becomes prohibitively expensive.
- Game design is considered pay-to-win or cash grab oriented at higher levels, making free players stall quickly.
Recent reviews
Still getting ads after buying no ad pack. Using in-game "contact us" button in settings lead to a non-existent email. Beware when spending in this game! Can also confirm after almost a year after last update, no further improvements have been made. End game is still at level 180 with "This is the final stage. Please stay tuned for our next update." message, gold mine at level 18, cornfield at level 18, cheseidon statue at level 12 with level 181 skills inaccessible, following 2 more after that.

This is genuinely a terribly designed game. The first 100-110 levels go by in a breeze without spending a dime. After that good luck with the RNG with dungeons trying to ever get the red crystals you need to upgrade your skills. Also have fun trying to afford the attack upgrades so you can still earn gems. It is very obviously a cash grab game once you get the first 100 stages done. Definitely do not reccomend playing this at all.
