User reviews
Users appreciate Drops for its fun, visual, and audio-supported approach to learning Tagalog vocabulary through repetition and gamified exercises. It's especially beneficial for beginners due to its broad topic coverage and easy interface. However, many note the app heavily focuses on memorization with little sentence structure practice, and the timed learning sessions limit study flexibility. The price for full access is considered steep, and some users experience app bugs and crashes. Additionally, the mixture of English and Taglish words detracts from pure Tagalog immersion.
Pros
- Enjoyable and engaging way to learn Tagalog with gamified and visual elements.
- Good for memorizing vocabulary with repetition and flashcard-like exercises.
- Helpful audio pronunciation aids learning and retention.
- Wide range of topics and vocabulary areas covered.
- Convenient for beginners and available for many languages with a user-friendly interface.
Cons
- Limited teaching of sentence structure; focus is mainly on memorization of words.
- Three-minute daily time limit or session cooldown is restrictive and hampers continuous learning.
- High subscription cost with aggressive prompts to purchase premium version.
- Presence of English and Taglish words diminishes purity of Tagalog learning experience.
- App stability issues reported, including crashes, buggy ads, and activation problems.

It's 1 of the best tagalog learning apps I've used. My only qualm is that it's purely memorization. It doesn't teach sentence structure. You memorize common sentences used. The native speakers say them quickly, so it's hard to catch while using the app. There's also quite a bit of english words used which falls more into the category of Tag-lish, not pure Tagalog. I recommend people watch Tagalog Time w/ Pat on YouTube. Where this app lacks in, she explains them well.

the pictures get harder to reme mber as you learn more words. I wish it had English words to match the picture to make learning easier. you will mix up pictures when they look alike. I have trouble retaining information from brain injuries as a child so learning may be very challenging for me. though this app is helping I am retaining some words I remember when I wake up in the mornings. it has been great so far to learn Tagalog . at $60 a year I hope to buy the subscription soon to keep on.
