User reviews
Users appreciate the app's engaging and beautifully designed UI, which effectively aids vocabulary learning through visuals and gamification. However, many report frustrations with the free version's severe session time limits and constant premium subscription prompts. The app has technical stability issues after recent updates, including crashes and lost progress. Some users find vocabulary offerings too basic or repetitive without sufficient grammar content. Overall, Drops excels as a fun vocabulary builder but has shortcomings in progression flexibility, content depth, and stability.
Pros
- User-friendly and beginner-friendly app, great for gradually increasing vocabulary.
- Beautiful, engaging, and intuitive UI with seamless transitions and enjoyable design.
- Various interactive learning methods including matching, listening, writing, and fill-in-the-blank exercises.
- Effective use of illustrations and images to aid memorization without over-reliance on native language translation.
- Gamified learning experience that emphasizes vocabulary acquisition through enjoyable activities rather than tests.
Cons
- App is overly restrictive in free version, limiting lesson time to 5 minutes and enforcing long wait times (up to 10 hours) between sessions unless paid subscription is purchased.
- Frequent and aggressive prompts to purchase premium version are annoying to users.
- Recent updates have introduced bugs and crashes, including app closing during sessions and loss of streaks, negatively affecting user experience.
- Repetitive content with too many repetitions required per word and limited advanced vocabulary; users unable to adjust repetition settings or difficulty levels.
- Insufficient inclusion of essential grammar elements like articles (de/het), verbs, and adjectives, limiting practical language use.

I like the app, but these three things are preventing me from using it. 1. The app is too slow (animations are too long), I am able to a answer 5x faster than the Ul allowes me to 2. The level is too easy, I have chosen too easy level and I cannot change it. I know most of the words. 3. When the words are cut into pieces, they a cut ranndom places. But they should be divided in syllables. Otherwise is unnatural to put it together

In the small amount of time I do the lessons, and then have to wait almost 10 hours to do another because I cant pay for the subscription or whatever is absolutely stupid. If you want someone to learn, don't make them pay if they want to do more. learning a language should be free, because the visual was of this app is amazing, I have autism so it's great, but the face that I can't do more than one lesson a day is what made me stop. Not everyone has money growing on trees.
