User reviews
Pros
- Comprehensive and organized lessons for learning Mandarin
- User-friendly with engaging features like native speaker videos and pronunciation practice
- Effective for both vocabulary and grammar with cultural insights
- Good for beginners, offering real-life language usage and scenarios
- Strong community support and app responsiveness towards user feedback
Cons
- Premium content is heavily locked behind a paywall, limiting access to lessons
- Limited options for pronunciation feedback, sometimes not clear on errors
- The requirement for a subscription model instead of a one-time purchase is off-putting for some users
- Some sentences have confusing structures that aren't clear for new learners
- XP system for progress tracking feels irrelevant and unhelpful

features slowly get locked behind a paywall and after a few days, everything is behind a paywall and I don't have access to anymore lessons except the few i already learned. also, it would be even better if it had an option in the settings, next to the pin yin and chinese characters options, to turn off all written language and only have the vocals or speach for the sentences. i end up relying on visual memory rather than listening, which doesn't help me in learning and stunts my growth.

Downloaded it since I'm staying on Rednote even though tiktok is back. I've always wanted to learn different languages, Chinese being in my top 5. Instead of putting it off for the future I have challenged myself to learn and have kept my streak for 11 days, the widget for the streaks is so cute and the character for the app is always saying something different especially when it comes to time being almost up. The real life videos have been helpful, overall I'm very pleased with the app.
