User reviews
Monster Dash's core gameplay remains enjoyable and nostalgic for many players, who are glad it's back. However, numerous users criticize the forced internet connection and a shift from the beloved retro style to new, less appealing graphics, expressing a desire for an option to toggle styles. The game also suffers from increased difficulty and frustrating ads and paywalls. Technical problems like crashes and freezes, especially after ads, further detract from the experience. Overall, players appreciate the gameplay but are disappointed by monetization, online requirements, and changes impacting game feel.
Pros
- Core gameplay remains fun and challenging, retaining its run-and-gun appeal.
- Nostalgic value for long-time players, with positive memories from the original version.
- Some users appreciate the updated pixelated or polished graphics despite preferences varying.
- Game allows grinding money by replaying stages and the arcade.
- The game’s return is welcomed by fans who enjoyed it originally.
Cons
- Mandatory internet connection to play, even for offline gameplay, frustrates users.
- Dramatic changes in graphics and art style disliked; many prefer the old retro style and want an option to toggle between styles.
- Introduction of annoying pop-ups, ads, and pay-to-win mechanics disrupt the gameplay experience.
- Game has increased difficulty, including unfair elements like monsters dropping unexpectedly or vehicle placements leading to early loss.
- Frequent crashes, freezes, and bugs reported, including issues after watching ads and instances of phones crashing or stuttering.

Got it back after a while. The art changed to be more pixelized which I like but I prefer the old one. Maybe add a toggle to switch art styles in settings. I don't really like how they added Barry saying stupid stuff after each death. Speaking of death the game has been made a little harder. I hope this gets a classic version just like some of the other games y'all make.

Not gonna lie, I was willing to play the old version of the game, it looks so remarkable along with the music and the ingame transition. I will miss the new version though, hopefully they'll make it as "Monster Dash 2.0" or "New: Monster Dash".
