User reviews
Users appreciate the quality and variety of stories in the Readink app but consistently report significant issues like extremely high costs to unlock full books, unreliable rewards and ad-based coin earnings, frequent technical problems, and poor customer service. Many find the persistent subscription prompts and billing problems frustrating. While the stories themselves are praised, these drawbacks lead many to consider the app overpriced and problematic overall.
Pros
- The app features good and interesting stories with superior writing compared to similar apps.
- There are some ways to earn free coins by watching ads or completing tasks, although these are often problematic.
- The comment feature allows readers to connect and discuss the stories.
- The app offers access to books not easily found elsewhere and has a variety of genres.
Cons
- The app is very expensive; reading a full book can cost nearly $100 to $140, which users find unreasonable compared to physical or other digital books.
- Daily rewards and bonus coin systems are often broken or insufficient, with ads either not granting coins or causing the app to freeze.
- Customer service is unresponsive or ineffective, with issues like repeated subscription charges and unresolved payment problems.
- The app frequently has bugs such as freezing, losing user progress, locked chapters after purchase, and crashes preventing usage.
- Subscriptions are aggressively pushed with multiple pop-ups, are costly, and users report being charged after cancellation.
Recent reviews
Great stories but expensive. I'm not sure why the free rewards recently dropped. I have to play a delicate balance between what I'm willing and able to pay and taking advantage of the bonuses to even purchase some coins. I mean I used to be able to get a chapter ever other day between checking jn and watching the ads but now I barely get one a week. I understand the app needs to make money and support the authors but I think it's important to consider your readers too.

The books are good. But charging $100+ for a book that you can't even physically hold is ridiculous. I can buy a physical paperback for $30 max some way cheaper. If I like a book enough, I'd pay $100 for the facey edition book, but books that have typos and errors being $100+ is a scam. Don't get sucked in
