Enrollment was very quick and easy. Consequently, no need to try to purchase very far in advance. You can buy rail tickets with discount before you actually have the railcard, but HAVE to have it by the time you actually travel. Overall, simple, easy to use system designed to charge you for discounts...

The railcard app is separate to your railcard account, so you still have to go online to manage anything or buy a new card. It's a pretty pointless app they force you to have. They had a major issue with downloading new cards today and had no workaround except "go buy one somewhere else"
